Inemuri, 2018

Synthetic plaster, pigments
45 x 38 x 38 cm

Sculpture of a ‘FROSTA’ stool made by IKEA modified to look as its original, the ‘Stool 60’ from Alvar Aalto. This results in a mix between the original and the copy.

In Japan, the practice of napping in public, called inemuri (居眠り, lit. “present while sleeping”), may occur at work or in classroom. In the exhibition space, it could be the stool of the room watchman or that of the installer left vacant, emphasizing the notion of absence at work.
